5 Things to Do in Colne

Come to Colne this Summer

Keeping the kids entertained for six weeks is not an easy task… Just trying to balance time on the iPad with enjoying the great outdoors is a challenge in itself! Here in Colne, we have some fantastic attractions for the whole family to enjoy, from the excitable 3-year-old right up to maturing mini adults. Whether you’re on staycation or looking for something local, we have some great ideas for you, the little ones and the not so little ones to enjoy:

Earnie’s

Disco lights, pool tables, sweets and most importantly roller skating… this is every child’s dream!

This really is the perfect playground for children of all ages – they can have their fill of sugar at Vanillaz and then spend hours in the roller rink burning off all their energy. If roller skating isn’t their style, there is a range of arcade and tabletop games to enjoy before feasting on pizza or visiting the burger bar.

Swimming at Pendle Leisure Centre

At Pendle Leisure Centre there’s two pools to choose from – a smaller 10m pool for parents with young children and a larger 25m pool – not to mention the inflatables! Look out for their family swim times or if you and your kids fancy staying dry, check out their family fit group fight class!

Foulridge Canal Cruises

See the beautiful Colne countryside in a new exciting way as the traditional boat takes you along the winding canal. From wildlife, scenery and a spooky tunnel to navigate, it really is a diverse and interesting journey that offers something for the whole family!

Shopping

If your child is a Pokémon fan or a Dungeons and Dragons gamer, they’ll absolutely love Saint’z Dragons gift shop on Church Street. Another favourite is Funky Gifts on Market Street – from the Harry Potter obsessed to the Peppa Pig enthusiast, you’ll find something fabulous for them here.

Prestige Karting

Go Karting and Laser Battle is the perfect mix of thrill and adrenaline! Prestige Karting has times just for the kids to enjoy the track without the adults getting in their way, or why not set up a kids vs parents laser battle to see who has to do the chores that night?!

Wycoller Village & Country Park

Wycoller Village and Country Park has been slowly restored from years of abandonment to encourage visitors to come and visit the site. A Wildlife Watch group for kids aged 8-13 has been introduced with support of the Wildlife Trust to encourage budding David Attenboroughs. If you like things to be slightly spookier then try one of the bat or ghost walks and learn the myths and legends of Wycoller.

From experiencing the outdoors, to learning new skills, to challenging each other at go karting, Colne has fantastic range of days out and activities to suit all families and budgets. Why not put all the options in a hat and let the kids take it in turn picking what they do each week?
