Cycling In and Around Pendle & Colne
Pendle has lots of great cycling routes for you and your family of all abilities. Some routes are also for beginners or those that prefer easier routes. The Pennine Cycleway is part of the National Cycle Network , and is ideal for families and beginners as its 40km route follows the towpath of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
Pendle Cycle Tour – A 17 mile on-road cycle route through marvellous undulating countryside and picturesque villages, taking from 3 to 4 hours, depending on the pace you go and how long you stop along the route. Not suitable for beginners
Bowland By Bike – offers information about a variety of routes throughout the region which offers beautiful unspoilt countryside, picturesque villages, dramatic open moorland incised by steep valleys, and outstanding scenery.
Tour of Britain -Section One – The UK’s top cycle race for world class cyclists, The Tour of Britain, took place in Pendle & the Ribble Valley in 2015. Many “ordinary” cyclists love cycling the route. To make it a bit easier we’ve split the route into a number of sections. Section One is a good one to try.
Grand Cycle Tour of Pendle – A fantastic 35 mile road route, quite hilly in places, but great for the weekend. Many of the places that the route goes through are picturesque, like Barley, Newchurch, and Fence. (Not suitable for complete beginners).
